Read-A-Thon is on!

This has been a great Read-A-Thon so far! Friday, October 26th was the last day to enter reading minutes, but sponsors can keep donating through Monday, November 5th! We are hoping to raise another $2,000 to meet our goal for this year! Keep reaching out to your family and friends for sponsors!

Students get prize money for each donation they get. Check the shop from your child's reader page where they can choose from a long list of fun prizes! The last day to shop for prizes is Monday, November 5th.

Check our school's main read-a-thon page (CLICK HERE) - it shows a running tally of readers, minutes read, sponsors and donations as well as information about class prizes!

Thank you for being super readers!

Book Fair

"Fill your house with stacks of books, in all the crannies and all the nooks.”
– Dr. Seuss

Come to the Book Fair going on this week at the PLE library! Proceeds from the Book Fair will benefit the library! The Book Fair will be every day the week of October 29th-November 2nd after school until 4pm. There is also online store that is now open. CLICK HERE to view the online store. Help us support our school library!
Picture Retake Day

Tuesday, October 30th is Picture Retake Day. If your child was absent on school picture day, please send the picture order form to school with them. If your child needs their picture retaken for some reason, please send your photo packet to school with them.
Socktober Drive!

PLE is celebrating Unity Day by having a sock drive! Please donate new adult and child socks to the front office by the end of the month - there is a white box on the table for donations! The socks will be donated to local shelters and organizations to help homeless in our area have cozy toes this winter. Click here to view the flier.
Box Tops for Education

It's the end of the month again, which means it's time to collect your Box Tops and turn them in! Just plop them in a baggie and write your students' name and teacher on it.

Thank you for your support!
Costumes at School

A gentle reminder that Phantom Lake Elementary does not allow costumes at school out of respect for our families that choose not to celebrate.
Reflections

Everyone should have gotten a 2-page (front and back) handout through kid mail that goes over the official rules and entry for the National PTA Reflections program.

The Reflections program is an arts contest put on by the National PTA for the last 50 years. The program helps "students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life". (from the National PTA Reflections Arts Program webpage) If you walked through Crossroads Mall last spring, you may have seen displays in the hallway by Hallmark showcasing Reflections work from students in surrounding schools.

Students in all grades (pre-K-5 at Phantom Lake) can create and submit original works of art in one or all of the available arts categories. The categories are: Dance Choreography; Film; Literature; Music; Photography; and Visual Arts.

Our theme this year is Heroes Around Me (you'll see fliers with "Heroes Around Me" on the notice boards around school!).

Submissions are due to the front office by November 1!
